SELİM KOÇBAY, APPOINTED AS GENERAL MANAGER OF TÜRASAŞ, STARTED HIS DUTY

Turkey Rail System Vehicles Industry Inc. (TÜRASAŞ), which has an important place in Turkey's railway industry, has started a new era. Selim Koçbay, who was appointed with the Presidential Decree No. 2024/319 published in the Official Gazette dated September 13, 2024, took over the position from former General Manager Mustafa Metin Yazar with a program attended by Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Osman Boyraz. The handover program was attended by Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Personnel General Manager Leyla Akıncı, TCDD Transportation General Manager Ufuk Yalçın, TCDD Technical General Manager Mustafa Özdöner and institution managers.

Positions Are Temporary, What's Important is to Achieve Difficult Jobs

Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Osman Boyraz, who was present at the handover program held at the General Directorate of TÜRASAŞ, emphasized that positions are temporary and what's important is to achieve difficult jobs and leave a pleasant sound, and continued as follows: “TÜRASAŞ is the apple of our Ministry's eye, Turkey's largest domestic and national industrial organization. TÜRASAŞ has very important goals ahead of it, our former general manager Mustafa Metin Yazar carried the industry leadership flag to this day, and in the following process, it will move forward with sure steps towards the future with our new general manager.

34 Years from Engineering to General Manager

Selim Koçbay, the new general manager of TÜRASAŞ, who underlined that he started his career as an engineer and has served in many positions for 34 years, said the following: “I am starting my new duty with great excitement and happiness, TÜRASAŞ has an important role in the national and local railway industry, we are achieving great things with the sweat of Turkish workers and engineers. Our 168-year-old railway sector is getting stronger with TÜRASAŞ," he said.

Koçbay emphasized that Turkey's railway sector has become one of the most dynamic sectors with the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the support of Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdülkadir Uraloğlu, and expressed that he has always been honored and proud to be a part of this great responsibility. Koçbay also thanked Mustafa Metin Yazar, whom he took over the position, and expressed that he believed Yazar left a pleasant legacy at TÜRASAŞ, and wished him success in his new life.

I am leaving TÜRASAŞ in safe hands

Mustafa Metin Yazar, who handed over the position of TÜRASAŞ General Manager to Selim Koçbay, contributed to the development of the local and national railway sector during his term, and brought the electric mainline locomotive and high-speed train to our country. He said that the entire team worked devotedly to take Turkey to a new era, and that he left the task to safe hands with peace of mind.
