Sakarya Regional Directorate
Railway transportation, which started in 1866 in our country, has been carried out for many years with vehicles, all of which were imported and whose maintenance and repairs were carried out in an externally dependent manner. This situation has continuously caused problems and interruptions in railway operations and increased costs. The first facilities of today's TÜRASAŞ Sakarya Regional Directorate, formerly known as TÜVASAŞ, were put into operation on October 25, 1951 under the name of "Wagon Repair Workshop" in order to eliminate these problems.
The first wagon was manufactured in 1962 in the establishment, which has been transformed into Adapazarı Railway Factory (ADF) since 1961.
As a result of the export activities that started in 1971, a total of 77 wagons were exported to Pakistan and Bangladesh.
In 1975, RIC type passenger wagons started to be produced in international standards at the facilities named "Adapazarı Wagon Industry Organization" (ADVAS).
Since 1976, the production of electric suburban series has been started with the license of Alstom company and a total of 75 series (225 units) have been produced and delivered to TCDD.
In 1986, TÜRASAŞ Sakarya Regional Directorate focused on new projects by making breakthroughs in research and development activities and engineering services, as well as passenger wagons and electrical array manufacturing.
The projects produced in the 1990s were matured and the rail buses, RIC-Z type new luxury wagons and TVS 2000 air-conditioned luxury wagons, designed by TÜRASAŞ Sakarya Regional Directorate, were completed, and their production started in 1994.
In 1995, infrastructure works were accelerated for the production of vehicles used in light rail transportation.
TÜRASAŞ Sakarya Regional Directorate, which started to provide quality services in wagon production and repair with its experienced specialist, engineer and qualified worker staff in 1998, has also successfully completed the production of TVS 2000 type luxury sleeper wagons.
TÜRASAŞ Sakarya Regional Directorate suffered great material damage in the August 17, 1999 Marmara Earthquake. The workshops and infrastructure of the organization, which lost its production capability, became unusable, repair and production completely stopped.
Since April 2000, debris removal works have been started and with the great efforts of the personnel of TÜRASAŞ Sakarya Regional Directorate, re-manufacturing and repair activities have started in a short time.
In 2001, within the framework of the cooperation with SIEMENS, the assembly and commissioning of 38 vehicles of the Light Rail Vehicle fleet of the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality was carried out at the facilities of TÜRASAŞ Sakarya Regional Directorate.
Since 2002, M-Series (M10 pulman, M70 dinner and M80 personnel compartment) modernization wagon projects have been carried out in order to bring the old type wagons to a modern look and comfort in today's lines with a modular approach.
In the 2003-2009 period, high value-added, information and technology-intensive semi-finished products and equipment were localized, and passenger wagons began to be produced with a 90% domestic rate.
TÜRASAŞ Sakarya Regional Directorate has accelerated the export of wagons to abroad in recent years, generator wagons, which were started to be manufactured in 2005 for Iraqi Railways, were delivered on May 28, 2006. Thus, TÜRASAŞ Sakarya Regional Directorate has regained its identity as a company capable of exporting after 35 years.
In 2008, an enterprise resource planning (ERP) application, which enables monitoring and control of all business activities in computer environment, was introduced.
In 2008 and 2009, 84 (28 sets) subway vehicles to be operated by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality between Taksim and Yenikapı and 75 (25 sets) electric train set (suburban) vehicles of TCDD were manufactured within the framework of joint production with the South Korean Hyundai / Rotem company. .
The project titled "Examination of Passenger Wagons Under Static and Dynamic Loads" accepted by TÜBİTAK within the scope of the program of supporting public institutions research projects in 2007; Computerized stress analysis of passenger wagons made it possible to report high-speed collisions and comfort tests under road conditions. In addition, since 2009, tests have been carried out on products with a static test stand.
In 2010, the multi-voltage energy supply unit (UIC voltage converter) to be used in European railways was manufactured and tested under road conditions.
In 2010, with the cooperation of Sakarya University, Uludağ University and TÜRASAŞ Sakarya Regional Directorate, the construction of the "Climatic Test Tunnel" where the air conditioning systems of rail vehicles will be tested was started and this application was presented to TÜBİTAK.
The Diesel Train Set (DMU) vehicles project, which started to be produced in 2010; It consists of a total of 84 vehicles, 12 of which are triple and 12 are 4. The production of these vehicles was completed until the end of 2013 and delivered to TCDD.
In 2010, within the framework of joint production with Hyundai / Rotem company, the production of 275 vehicles for the Marmaray Project was carried out at our facilities in accordance with the contract.
