HISTORICAL SIGNATURES WERE MADE IN THE SERIES PRODUCTION OF ESKİŞEHİR-5000
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, Türkiye Rail System Vehicles Industry Inc. He spoke at the Eskişehir 5000 Electric Main Line Locomotive Contract Signing Ceremony signed between TÜRASAŞ and TCDD Taşımacılık. Reminding that they recently opened Turkey's most modern and largest capacity Bogie Production Factory at TÜRASAŞ Sivas Regional Directorate, Uraloğlu said that from now on, the bogies needed for all kinds of vehicles used in freight and passenger transportation by rail will be produced in this factory. Uraloğlu announced that with the contract signed today, TÜRASAŞ Eskişehir Regional Directorate will start the production of 95 "Eskişehir 5000" Electric Main Line Locomotives for TCDD Transportation.
Technology Product Exports Reached 100 Billion Dollars in 2023
Minister Uraloğlu said that they will further accelerate the projects that they have dreamed of and have been preparing for years for the new century of our republic, and said, "This century will be a period in which our country will mark the world history with the vision of 'A Turkey with a strong industry and a national technology.' We have already become a global producer and export country worldwide with the national technology products we have produced by developing our domestic industry in the last 22 years under the leadership of our President. Our country's exports of medium-high and high-tech products such as machinery, medical, transportation, electrical and electronics, especially the defense industry, will approach 100 billion dollars in 2023. In fact, we responded with TOGG to those who blocked the Devrim Car, which was produced in TÜRASAŞ' Eskişehir facilities, that is, here, about 60 years ago. "By producing our own car with TOGG, we have made our nation's longing and dream come true," he said.
TÜRASAŞ is One of the Largest Manufacturers in the Middle East
Uraloğlu said that they did not leave the railway vehicles and industry behind in production and noted that they prioritized locality and nationality issues in all the projects they implemented as the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure. Reminding that they merged TÜLOMSAŞ, TÜDEMSAŞ and TÜVASAŞ, three important companies where different parts of rail system vehicles are made, under the umbrella of TÜRASAŞ with the Presidential decision dated March 4, 2020, Uraloğlu said, “In the production of railway vehicles, we gather the sector stakeholders under one roof in the rail system production processes.” We achieved a new momentum and synergy. We transformed TÜRASAŞ into one of the largest rail system vehicle manufacturers in the Middle East. "To date, we have been producing main, critical and sub-products such as new generation locomotives, diesel and electric train sets, passenger wagons, freight wagons, Traction converter, Traction engine, diesel engine, Train Control Management System, etc. at international standards," he said. Uraloğlu reminded that they put the first national electric train sets into service in 2023, the 100th anniversary of the republic, and underlined that they also put local and national driverless metro vehicles, produced with a 70 percent local production rate, on the rails.
National Electric High Speed Train Set to be Completed in 2024
Minister Uraloğlu stated that 2 sets of Turkey's first National and Local Electric Train Set project, called "New Sakarya" with a speed of 160 kilometers per hour, were completed and put into service. Explaining that mass production has started and that they plan to increase the number of these train sets to 56 by 2030, Uraloğlu said, “We have reached the final stage of the design work on the National Electric High Speed Train Set Project, which has a speed of 225 kilometers per hour. "We plan to complete the prototype production this year. Our National Suburban Train Set Prototype vehicle production efforts continue," he said. Uraloğlu emphasized that TÜRASAŞ Eskişehir Regional Directorate is a giant production center integrated with seven factories consisting of locomotives, bogies, electrical machines, engines, wagons, machining and chemical processes factories. Stating that a total of 912 locomotives of various types and 11 thousand 974 wagons of various types have been produced in the center so far, Uraloğlu said that in 22 years, in addition to the production and export of 1000 Horsepower DH 10000 type Diesel Hydraulic Mainline and Shunting Locomotives, a total of 31 units of DH7000/DH10000/DH12000 types have been produced. He noted that locomotives and spare parts for locomotives were also exported to Iraqi Railways.
The Highest Power CER Engine Designed in Our Country
Uraloğlu explained that many other productions, such as the production of the 3,300 horsepower DE 33000 type Mainline Locomotive and the export of the DH12000 type Diesel Hydraulic Mainline locomotive, were carried out by TÜRASAŞ Eskişehir Regional Directorate. Minister Uraloğlu emphasized that they have opened the doors of a new era with the E5000, the first electric mainline locomotive with 5000 KW power, produced with domestic and national resources in 2023, and said:
“We have developed a new generation electric mainline locomotive of the TURASAŞ brand, suitable for the needs of TCDD Taşımacılık A.Ş., with a power of 5 megawatts, having the “TSI”, that is, the European Union Railways Interoperability certificate, capable of carrying freight and passengers, and having a speed of 140 km/h. . Our Eskişehir-5000 project, which we accept as the project of the firsts and bests in this field, has many prominent features. For example; Each of the traction motors has a power of 1280 kW and is the highest power traction motor designed in our country to date. Each of the traction converters has a power of 2.5 MW and is the highest power high voltage traction converter designed in our country for a rail system vehicle. In addition, the first domestically designed vehicle body, the first bogie and the first Train Control and Management System for mainline locomotives were implemented with this project. Moreover, all the main components developed for the Eskişehir-5000 locomotive are products with critical technology that can be exported as separate products. “These products can be used in existing locomotives within TCDD Transportation, both as spare parts and for their modernization.”
Locality Rate Will Reach 85 Percent
Minister Uraloğlu also emphasized that they made a great contribution to the economy and reducing the current account deficit by procuring locomotives from 115 domestic suppliers while they were being produced. Pointing out that all the outputs developed within the scope of the project are products with high added value and have not been designed in Turkey before, Uraloğlu said, “With the knowledge and experience gained, we increased the rate of localization in the rail vehicles that our country needs. The localization rate of our locomotive is currently approximately 65 percent. But we plan to increase this figure to 85 percent in mass production. I would like to proudly state that we are now one of the few countries with our own technology in the locomotive sector. Thanks to the experience and knowledge we have gained, our dependence on abroad in the production of locomotives suitable for our needs has been eliminated. "I believe that we will undertake many more great projects and services under the leadership of our President," he said.
